ActiveCenter - Customer story - Carrefour

Carrefour is the second largest retailer in the world. With more than 9200 shops in 30 countries, the organisation employees around 380,000 people. Carrefour uses ActiveCenter to manage and plan the careers of its top managers in 29 countries worldwide.

The Challenge

Having 380,000 employees spread out over 29 countries, working in different time-zones and cultures is a challenge for any organisation. When the information you have about these employees is held in many local databases, on paper and in systems in the headquarters, there are obvious difficulties.

The Project

The first phase of the project was the collection of data for the top 2000 employees. Some information was held by the headquarters and some in the different countries. Bringing together different databases, Excel sheets and paper records was a task made easier by Jobpartners technology as users were trained to participate in the task. When the information was consolidated into ActiveCenter, Carrefour started a process of validation where employees, managers and HR ensured that the information was correct.

The Results

Bringing together employee information in ActiveCenter produced a global view of the organisation for both top management and HR. As the first step in a new strategy to globalise Carrefour's people management, the platform now acts as an ongoing tool to ensure accurate employee information as well as being the base from which other HR process such as succession planning and appraisals are launched.
