ActivePlanner - Customer story - Carrefour
|
Carrefour is the second largest retailer in the world. With more than 9200 shops in 30 countries, the organisation employs around 380,000 people. Carrefour uses ActivePlanner to manage and plan the careers of its top managers in 29 countries worldwide. |
The Challenge
Having your top managers spread out over 29 countries, working in different time-zones and cultures is a challenge for any organisation. Carrefour also counts a large number of expatriate managers among its 'high potential' employees. Making sure that this group receives clear development planning and potential promotion scenarios in the group is a critical success factor and top priority for an organisation that understands that quality people management is critical for growth and profitability.
The Project
The first phase of the project was the collection of data for the top 2000 employees. Some information was held by the headquarters and some in the different countries. Bringing together different databases, Excel sheets and paper records was a task made easier by Jobpartners technology as users were trained in 29 countries to participate in the task. Employees were then given access to their own information and, along with managers and HR, started the process of building and managing their personal development plans. Management and HR were then able to launch a new programme of succession planning for the organisation.
The Results
Carrefour identified that one of the key effects of Jobpartners' technology is that employees can establish their aspirations and objectives in a very free and personal way, without a structure being imposed on them. Philippe Passel, Carrefour's VP of HR for the Headquarters, comments that this, "illustrates the value of Jobpartners' approach and solutions, which take into account the golden rules of HR management. One of these is to respect people as individuals and a perfect example is encouraging freedom of expression without constraints."
